Sal has an area of 216 km² and has 35,000 inhabitants. Santa Maria is the heavenly location of Serena Bay. Endless beaches coupled with the perfect climate provide the ultimate holiday feeling.
The two most famous tourist islands are without a doubt Sal and Boa Vista. The local population, who partly live from growing tourism, is friendly and hospitable. Politics is stable and there are no exchange rates between the escudo – the local currency – and the euro.
The bustling town of Santa Maria has an idyllic boulevard and an 8 kilometer long snow-white beach, surrounded by clear turquoise water. Sal is also known as a luxury resort for water sports: surfing, diving, kiting, sailing... And anyone who thought you could only float in the Dead Sea is completely wrong: the salt lake Pedra De Lume is more than worth a visit. In Shark Bay you will meet lemon sharks. But there is of course more to do: in The Blue Eye you look into the beautiful eye of Mother Nature, a magical underwater cave with bright blue water.
